About the Opportunity:
Our client is a venture-backed software company HQ in San Diego building intelligent AI platforms for the healthcare and biotech industries. With recent major customer wins, they are quickly scaling their engineering teams.
The engineering team is tackling complex technical challenges including large-scale SaaS architecture, multi-tenant systems, AI-powered workflows, document generation, workflow automation, and highly scalable cloud infrastructure.
This is an opportunity to join a growing team where engineers have significant influence over architecture, product direction, and technology decisions. As they are scaling quickly, this role will likely evolve into a leadership position for candidates with that interest and capabilities.

What You’ll Do:

Own Product Development: Lead the design, development, and delivery of complex product features from concept through production deployment.

Build Scalable Systems: Design and implement scalable SaaS applications, APIs, and services that support a growing customer base.

Shape Technical Direction: Influence architecture decisions, engineering standards, code quality practices, and platform scalability.

Drive AI-Powered Innovation: Help integrate AI and LLM technologies into customer-facing workflows, automation tools, and intelligent product features.

Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner closely with Product, Design, QA, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.

Mentor Engineers: Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, and help elevate engineering excellence across the team.
What We’re Looking For:
- 7+ years building commercial SaaS applications for use in enterprise environments
- Strong experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and React
- Experience building distributed systems and microservice architectures
- Experience designing and supporting multi-tenant SaaS platforms
- Strong API design experience, including REST-based services
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Experience with Docker and modern development workflows
- Strong software design, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Startup experience or comfort working in fast-moving, high-growth environments
- Experience integrating AI or LLM technologies into production applications
- Experience with monorepos and shared code architecture, event-driven or real-time systems
- Experience with Express, Inversify, Redis, UV, Vite, or related technologies
- Experience developing Microsoft Office Add-ins
- Experience in healthcare, life sciences, regulated software, or clinical research environments
- Must currently reside in or plan to relocate to San Diego County and comfortable with hybrid (2-3 days/week) onsite in the UTC/La Jolla Area.
- Must be able to work for a US based company without current or future visa sponsorship requirements.
Compensation & Benefits Package:
Base Salary: $157,000–$185,000
