Job Title: Program Architect – AWS CCaaS (Amazon Connect)
Employment Type: Contract
Reports To: Director, Application Architecture & Reliability
Role Summary
This role provides architectural leadership for a large-scale Amazon Connect (AWS CCaaS) implementation program. The Program Architect is responsible for driving solution architecture strategy, ensuring alignment across multiple workstreams, and governing design decisions throughout delivery.
The position sits within a centralized Solution Architecture function supporting enterprise-scale digital transformation initiatives. Success in this role requires strong technical depth, program-level thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively across architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Program-Level Architecture Leadership
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Amazon Connect from an architecture, solution, and design perspective.
- Represent architectural decisions at the program level and ensure alignment across multiple initiatives.
- Maintain a Program Architecture Plan mapping solution blueprints to enterprise architecture principles.
Architecture Alignment & Governance
- Coordinate architecture activities across related projects to ensure consistency with enterprise and domain standards.
- Translate enterprise architecture guidance into executable solution designs across workstreams.
- Ensure consistency between High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD), resolving cross-project conflicts.
- Track and escalate technical risks and architectural design debt impacting program outcomes.
- Serve as the escalation point for Architecture Review Board (ARB) items originating from multiple Solution Architects.
- Lead program-wide architecture forums to reconcile design patterns, platforms, and constraints.
Design & Delivery Oversight
- Collaborate with Solution Architects, Technical Leads, and engineering teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture.
- Shape and evolve the solution architecture roadmap using industry, domain, and organizational expertise.
- Validate design artifacts and ensure alignment between planned and as-built architectures.
- Ensure all solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements, including performance, scalability, availability, and security.
Architecture Review & Strategy Participation
- Participate in Architecture Review Boards and Enterprise Solution Review forums.
- Present and defend architectural designs, trade-offs, and key decisions.
- Contribute to technology strategy and product roadmap discussions, including recommendations for new technologies, consolidation, and decommissioning.
Technical Scope
- Application development architectures (cloud and on-prem)
- Serverless, microservices, and service-oriented architectures
- Cloud DevOps and CI/CD practices
- Container platforms (e.g., OpenShift, managed Kubernetes)
- Cloud networking, storage, and security components
- Infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, Terraform)
- Cloud solution estimation and vendor/product evaluation
Nice to Have
- Experience in regulated or infrastructure-heavy industries
- Experience with contact center technologies
Experience & Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in IT application development
- 7+ years of experience designing enterprise-scale application and solution architectures
- 3+ years serving as a Lead Architect on complex programs
- 5+ years of experience leading or influencing architecture teams
- 3+ years of hands-on experience architecting Amazon Connect / AWS CCaaS solutions
- AWS Professional Solutions Architect certification (required)
- Amazon Connect Communications Specialist badge (preferred)
